Tenzing
(she/her)
Program and Operations Specialist
Hello!
I am a program and operations lead, with over 7 years of experience leading multi-dimensional global projects in resource constrained and precarious settings.
I have previous leadership experiences in the nonprofit and business sector, including formative experiences in my family's retail and restaurant small businesses.
At my core, I am a connector - I enjoy activating resources that enable innovation and solutions. I focus on impact and value, whether it is building transformative projects for rural communities or rethinking operational strategies for efficiency.
Having lived in between cultures and places from a young age, I employ a global sensibility to drive collaboration - integrating knowledge, lived experience, and solutions.
Some of my interests include personal finance, propagating plants, and recreating my favorite restaurant finds.
After having taken a career sabbatical for caregiving necessitated by family and the Covid-19 pandemic, I am excited to embark on a new chapter.

I was privileged to work directly with Tenzing for more than 5 years when I worked at the Machik office in Asia. She was an accessible and caring lead who mentored me in what was my first job out of college. One of Tenzing's many roles included being the liaison to our field office where she prioritized information flow and ensured cohesion between the two offices. She maintained regular and open communications with our young field team (always accessible even at odd hours due to the time difference) so we were aware of organization-wide priorities and issues. We never hesitated to share relevant updates on our end and grew to rely on Tenzing for her reliable presence and solutions. Based on our close interactions, I commend her decision-making skills and transparent leadership style that inspires trust among those around her. I’ve certainly learned a lot from working closely with her over the years.

I had the pleasure of working with Tenzing in collaboration with Send Chinatown Love (an NYC nonprofit helping to uplift AAPI-owned small businesses in NYC’s Chinatowns). She was really great to work with and always on top of communications, including making suggestions for how we can improve our offerings and bring the stories of immigrant-owned small businesses to life. Her nonprofit program management /operations background was evident in her attention to detail, empathy, and thoughtfulness in coordinating meal donations and social media campaigns. I would highly recommend her for any team requiring coordination, project management, and partnership cultivation!

My work ethic is shaped by my lived experience as a first-generation Tibetan immigrant and woman of color. I am emboldened by the journey of navigating these complex but rich identities that inspire new insights and understanding.
I have been fortunate to be connected with people who exemplify dignity and integrity in the face of extreme hardship and dispossession, like my grandparents, who had no formal education, but taught me everything about meeting the vicissitudes of life with kindness, humor, and intention. Their ingenuity and wisdom are my inspiration, and I honor them by living to my highest potential, both personally and professionally.
